The Ultimate List of Top 20 Side Hustle Ideas

Whether you’re just looking to earn more money, or dreaming of leaving your full time job, side hustles are a great way to do just that.

Side hustles can help you make some easy extra money online, or you could turn it into a proper small business.

From flipping furniture to testing websites, we’ve compiled the ultimate list of the 20 best side hustle ideas out there.

E-commerce (Buy and sell things)

1. Flip furniture

Hunt for hidden furniture gems online or at thrift stores, spruce them up with a fresh coat of paint or some new fabric, and resell them on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree. (Hint - you can even find lots of amazing pieces for FREE on there.)

2. Sell on Etsy

Are you artsy and crafty? Sell your handmade creations on Etsy! From jewellery to delicious homemade treats, you'll find a bustling marketplace you could earn some extra dough from with your artistic designs.

3. Start a Dropshipping business

Dropshipping is great if you like the idea of e-commerce, but don’t want to have to deal with manufacturing, wholesaling and shipping. Basically, you act as the shopfront for the customer. The customer purchases an item from you, but a third party (the dropshipper) will handle shipping it directly to the customer, so you never have to store inventory or deal with the post office! This side hustle takes a bit more legwork but has great potential to become passive income down the line. We found this great short guide on how to get started here.

4. Offer Print on Demand Products

Print on Demand or POD is based on the dropshipping model. You work with a supplier to customise their products and sell them under your own designs and brand. Like dropshipping, the good thing about POD is you don’t have to prepay or hold any inventory yourself. Each order is created and sold “on demand”. Check out these services to get started: Printify, OGO and Gelato.

7. Drive for Didi or Uber

Make extra cash by helping drive people to their destination. Try Didi or Uber.

Put your opinions to work and take online surveys to make some easy money. Platforms like Octopus Group and Pure Profile offer rewards for sharing your thoughts. For an in depth review of online surveys, check out my other article here.

9. Participate in Paid Market Research

Another way to share your opinion and earn money for it, paid market research will give you extra cash for one on one or group interviews. I’ve been paid $80 to $150 an hour for this side gig! Market research companies I’ve tried are Purple Corp and Farron Research.

10. Test Apps and Websites

Many companies are looking for feedback on their websites, apps, or digital products. Get paid to give this feedback on user testing platforms. Here are a few testing platforms I’ve tried: Trymata and Userlytics.
